General medicine is the first point of contact for most internal health problems in adults - from a fever that will not settle to the regular review of a long-term condition.
About our general medicine service
General medicine (internal medicine) covers the diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of illness in adults. Because the laboratory, digital X-ray and ultrasound are inside the same building, most patients can be examined, investigated and started on treatment in a single visit instead of being sent from one centre to another.
If a condition needs monitoring, admission to the ward or to our ICU can be arranged directly from the OPD, and the emergency service stays open 24x7 for anything that cannot wait.
Conditions we see
- Fever, viral illness, dengue, typhoid and other infections
- Cough, cold, chest infections and breathing difficulty
- Diabetes - diagnosis, control and follow-up
- High blood pressure and related risk checks
- Thyroid and other hormone-related complaints
- Acidity, indigestion, loose motions and abdominal pain
- Weakness, anaemia and unexplained weight change
- Routine health and pre-operative fitness check-ups
