About our psychiatry service
People often arrive having waited a long time, or having been told the problem is not real. It is. Low mood that will not lift, anxiety that interferes with work, sleep that has not been normal for months - these are treatable conditions, not weaknesses.
The first consultation is mostly listening: what has changed, for how long, and how it affects daily life. Treatment may involve medication, counselling, or both, and is reviewed regularly rather than continued indefinitely. What is discussed stays confidential.
