Respiratory Medicine
Respiratory medicine covers the lungs and airways - the breathlessness, wheeze and cough that Delhi’s air makes so common.
About our respiratory medicine service
Many chest complaints get dismissed as "just a cough" until they start limiting ordinary activity. Assessment here begins with examination and a chest X-ray, and moves on to treatment that is reviewed rather than repeated indefinitely.
Asthma and COPD need a plan a patient can actually follow: the right inhaler, used correctly, and a clear idea of what to do when symptoms flare. Severe episodes can be managed as an inpatient, with oxygen and ICU support available.
Conditions we see
- Asthma and recurrent wheezing
- COPD and smoking-related lung disease
- Tuberculosis - diagnosis, treatment and follow-up
- Pneumonia and chest infections
- Long-standing cough
- Breathlessness on exertion
- Allergic and seasonal respiratory symptoms
